This museum is home to one of the finest and most valuable collections of art in Europe. There are over 6,000 individual pieces displayed here, exhibits that span over 4,000 years, from Antiquity to the 19th century. They all used to belong to Calouste Gulbenkian. About the size of a shoe cupboard, this little bookshop sits quietly at the start of the Conceição stairs, from Madalena Street to the Largo da Conceição on the South Side of Lisbon’s Castle Hill. Despite its small size it boasts a dramatic collection of over 3000 books in just 4 square-meters.
This delightful Portuguese town offers an abundance of wonderful tourist attractions, ranging form ancient castles to sumptuous palaces. The town is famed for its Romanticism style of architecture and it is often visited as a day trip from Lisbon.
Located in the Bairro Alto District, close to the upper terminus of the Elevador da Gloria Funicular. The viewpoint is split over two charming terraces and provides wonderful views over central Lisbon and the castle.
At the top of the Alfama neighborhood you can find the iconic São Jorge Castle and the Sé Catedral de Lisboa. The castle is a great miradouro to a city overview. This is one of the oldest neighborhoods and has winding alleys with great places for wine tasting or to enjoy Fado.
Looking to buy designer clothes? Avenida da Liberdade is where to go. Built in the late 19th century, it runs between Rossio Train Station to the south and Parque Eduardo to the north. Magnificent high-end shops, like Burberry and Armani, hotels and banks are found here.
